We're All In This Together!

On January 20, 2006, something revolutionary happened. The Disney Channel aired a brand new made-for-television spectacle called "High School Musical". The world would never be the same.

From visionary Kenny Ortega, the man who directed the modern classic "Newsies," as well as choreographed the dance numbers for "Dirty Dancing" and "Xanadu" (not to mention the artiste who brought us Menudo's seminal music video "Hold Me") came the tale of high school basketball superstar Troy (portrayed by "Hairspray"'s Zac Efron) who refuses to stick to the status quo, and tries out for East High's annual winter musical, all for the love of the new girl in town, brainiac Latino Gabriela (singing sensation Vanessa Anne Hudgens). Can the two overcome the peer pressure, as well as the schemes of brother-sister song and dance duo Sharpay and Ryan (the sensational Ashley Tisdale and the fabulous Lucas Graebel) to get the leads in "Twinkle Town"?

Also starring Corbin Bleu.

Doesn't sound familiar? Well don't worry! Because starting at around 8PM, we'll be watching the first "High School Musical", in preparation for the premiere of the long awaited sequel "High School Musical 2", which will be shown afterward on DVR-tape delay, so we can fast forward through commercials and rewind to learn the all new choreography.

Feel free to come dressed as your favorite "High School Musical" character! And bring some awesome "High School Musical" snacks, especially if it's something Zeke would bake- like crème brûlée!

Let me know if you are coming so I can give you the address, because, don't forget, we are all in this together.

Beasties Come Home.

On August 9, 2007, The Beastie Boys played their first show ever in Brooklyn. And they did it in an abandoned pool in my hometown.

I took an assload of photos, all of them are up on my Flickr account here.

Of course, they closed the whole show with "No Sleep Til Brooklyn". I filled up the rest of my camera's memory card to capture this.

While the show was fantastic, the crowd was pretty meh. Between some jackasses fighting in the very forced mosh pit, to lackluster singalong (especially during "Paul Revere"), I was afraid this was going to ruin the show. But it all seemed to turn around when they stopped the show to show their love for DJ Run, as they brought the rap legend to the stage, the energy seemed to skyrocket.

In the end, it turned out to be one of the best shows I have ever seen. And the fact that it was held in the abandoned pool I once snuck into when I was 12 just made it more awesome.
